Black Women Playwrights Group of DC and Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company Launch A Cyber Narrative Project

leading the charge into transmedia theater

onemuse blogger James Carter reviews Black Women Playwrights-Woolly Mammoth "cyber narrative" collaboration

This “transmedia” project really began in 2008, in Chicago, when Black Women Playwrights Group produced the first national meeting of women of color writing drama — itself a collaboration with Loyola University. When surveyed at the conference, women playwrights then identified three areas of greatest interest: digital media, university residencies and productions, and the world of presenters — with digital media by far at the top of the list. Now, BWPG’s digital media project is a collaboration with Carnegie Mellon University, and includes theaters across the country.
